We are haveing pretty cold weather here to day. We have been expecting a attack from the rebs for the last tow [sic. two] days. Night before last the rebs crossed the river above here in quit [sic. quite] strong force and the have been moving a great share of their forces to our right. Let them come over here and we will play the same game they did on us only on a larger scale all we want of them is to come out and take a fare field fight then we will take 5 to one of them or 1 to 5 of them but they are to old for to come out and do that. I got a letter from Aunt Nick. She is at Clinton she wrote that she had heard
