but I have but a little time to spare so I shall have to hurry. I got a letter from Lon I will send to you. We got payed [sic. paid] off the day before we started and I have sent $80.00 to you by the way of Baldwinsville $40.00 of mine an $40.00 for Lafyette. We shall be mustred [sic. mustered] for tow [sic. two] month to day again. When you get the money write. I may not get a chance to write very soon for when we are on the march so we dont get much time to write. This is all at present give my best respects to all of my inquireing [sic. inquiring] friends so good by from your son Charles A Gates
