one from the East. So it forms 4 corners it is call Chancelorville [sic. Chancellorsville]. There was only one house in the place that was a large brick building used for a tavern once but that is burnt down now. The first of May we Advanced our lines toward Fredericksburg about 1 mile but by some means we were ordered back to our old lines again. We hadent [sic. hadn't] only got in our old position when the rebs made a attack on us but we drove them back then all remained quite [sic. quiet] till Saturday afternoon. They made another vigorous attack on our left front on the road from Fredericksburg but they were driven back about dark. They made a attack on our right flank on the Gordonsville road. The 12th Corps was on the right 11th next 5th next
