There mother this is a good a discreption as I can give you of our camp. Our tent is No 5 the street between our tents we call Broadway north of our tents when we came here was all wood or timber that was cut down last sumer now there is no wood to be found it has been all cut off you cant find as much as a brush. This is all I can write this fore noon. Afternoon orders have come to be ready to go in and hours warning and to have tow days ration ready. The rebels have been fighting with out pickets all day. I have not heard from Alonzo this week yet. Write as soon as you get this. This is all I can write this time excuse bad writeing and short letters give my best respect to all inquiring friends from your brother and son to Edward and mother
