the chance comes I will repay in abundant measure the long wait. It's a noble thing the girls of America are doing when they bind their lives to the uncertain fortunes of us fellows who are going to war. I know a half dozen fellows on board who are "war brides" as I am. So others have pledged themselves to devotion and loyalty to the one girl on the one hand and to self-sacrifice and heroic encouragement for one man on the other. They have drunk deep the cup of happiness and put it aside for that of sacrifice. And I tell you I consider the girl who does that is worthy the finest devotion a man can give. It is marvelous to me.
