Number Nine February 7, 1918. Sweetheart,- I didn't write to you last night, did I? No I did not; I neglected you dref'ly. After dinner I went with Lieutenant Magnan up to his billet and sat before the fireplace and smoked and swapped tales with him of the land back home. Consequently I didn't get to my own billet until 9:30, which is even later here than it would be in Nevada. My feather bed looked so attractive that I decided to postpone writing until this morning. So here I am making good on that intention. When I came in after my petit dejeuner of chocolate and bread, the nice little grandma was straightening things up. She kept looking at your pic
