These French people spend half their lives in the street and in windows and doorways gossiping about the life of their little world. Just now they have most extraordinary tales to tell each other of the strange doings of "Les Americains." We are an odd people to them. We are so insistent about such little things as proper sanitation; we rush about so fast in our big auto trucks and automobiles; and we are so reckless in our dispensing of money.
