Her easy, confident way and frank face and American language were a real treat. She was the first feminine American we had seen in Europe. She looked after our wants with just enough concern, and no more, which wasn't a half bad change from the intense solicitousness of the French women we have encountered to fly for every little thing and then be suggestively present when the time for tipping came. I think it is going to be one of the great services of the Y to have these good strong American girls over here to keep before the boys and men of the army the ideals that their sweethearts and wives back home express.
