Number Thirteen - with such a number will this ever reach you? February 11, 1918. Beloved, - Doesn't it beatell the way the war goes? Here I was all settled down for a long stay. Like a good boy I went off to work this morning and began learning things I need to know. All of a sudden - about 11. a.x. - comes a message saying, "The following officers will leave at 12:30 for ___ to take a three weeks' course in the ____ school." I was one of 'em. It was quite impossible for us to get away so soon as the time specified, so we are to go tonight. This remains our permanent station; we keep our billets and leave most of our belongings here. We are taking our bedding
