and I feel sure it will not be for long. Daphne read your letter to me in which you spoke of or wondered, how it would affect her to settle down as a married woman and no longer receive the attention which she has been accostimed to - I was talking to her on this very subject a few days ago and here is what she said. "Do you know mama I used to think before I knew and loved Conger that it would be terrible when I married and had to settle down and not go out with any one I wanted to, but now all seems so changed. I haven't one regret for that old life and I would not go back to it for the world, my love for him and the knowledge of his love answers all things for me". And she is so brave and so proud of you, as all of us are, and how happy we were to get the cables that you were safe. Oh that awful crossing - the days and nights of anxiety when we talked far into the night and prayed for your safety, and the safety of those other brave men who were with you! We
