conducting. Changes in the staff are in prospect which may make it necessary to spend more time at the administrative work of the section. New men can take up conducting at once, but the chief wants someone for the office work who has seen the wheels go around for awhile. I'm in line if anyone in the present administrative force drops out. I think I've made good here. This morning I came in while the chief was telephoning to G.H.Q. He didn't know I had come in, and was saying that he wanted to keep me - that I was intelligent! Only fancy! How in the world do you suppose he got that idea?
