He didn't try all the harder to be worthy of them. It is raining tonight again - or yet. Perhaps I should say it is dripping. I'd give a lot to see a real rain come pelting down as if it meant business, with lightning and thunder accompanying, and than stop. But in France it appears the fashion for water to ooze down almost continually - at this season anyway - making everything drippy but never really hammering away the dirt and mud. However, there are advantages. The Boche artillery can't shoot as well in such weather. Of course, ours can't either but that doesn't matter much in stationary warfare. When the time for our big push comes we'll pray for good visibility and dug roads. Oh, I must make a confession to you since you're my husband and I'm not sup-
