817- 19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa August 1, 1945 Dearest, Business was extra-ordinarily good today. It was a hot day, and now at 9 in the eve it is 80 or 85 I forgot which the reporter said on the radio. Your "little wife" has been Effie (for Efficiency you know) this evening. I've ironed just like it was a cool winter eve. I'm glad I don't mind hot weather I can just go down and grin at the furnace from ear to ear now! Talked a minute with Marlene. Irene has only one more x-ray treatment in the series of six. They make her sick in reaction the next day but she is doing well.
