147 Date Upside-Down Pudding Cake 1 c pitted Dates 2 tbsp. butter 1 c boiling H2O 1 egg 1 1/2 c instant type flour 1/2 c granulated sugar 1/2 c brown sugar 1 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c broken walnuts 1 1/2 c brown sugar 1 1/2 c boil. H2O Snip into 9" baking dish; add butter. pour on H2O, stir to melt butter & soften dates. Add Beat with fork till thoroughly blended. Scrape pan w/ rubber spatula after 1 min. beating. Smooth batter. Sprinkle w/ brown sugar. Slowly our water over all. Bake at 375 [degrees] for 40 min. Serve warm w/ ice cream. 9 servings.
