Doughnuts Mary Larson 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 3 heaping teaspoons baking powder, little salt, cinnamon or nutmeg, flour enough to make dough stiff enough to handle, Bird Nest Mary Larson 1 egg, 1/2 cup water, table spoon butter or lard, flour enough to make like cake batter, Slice apples in & bake, enough to get tender then pour batter out & bake, serve hot. Turn out on plate, season with spice & sugar Put a very little water in apples when first put in the oven. Batter cakes, Mary 1 qt sour milk, 1 teaspoon soda, 2 eggs, 3 teaspoons baking powder, teaspoon salt, flour to make moderately thin batter. Coffee for parties. 30 level table spoons of coffee to 7 qts water. Croquettes. 4 lbs lean veal, 1/4 as much chopped potatoes 1/2 pt bread crumbs, seasoning, make 50 to 52 croquettes.
