Hermits. 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup lard & butter mixed. 8 eggs well beaten; 1 cup chopped raisins, 1 cup English Walnuts, 1/2 nutmeg, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 cup sour milk, 1 teaspoon soda, flour. Nut Cake 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 cup of walnuts & 1 of seeded raisins chopped. Devils Food Cake Place barm in stove with 1/4 cup of milk & yolk of 1 egg, add 1/4 cake chocolate, 1/2 cup of sugar, boil until thick, cool & add 1 teaspoon vanilla. 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg & yolk of another, 1/2 cup milk 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons B.P. Mix & stir into the boiled part, mix well. Lemm Cake 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon B.P. whites of 3 eggs, 1 1/2 cups flour, flavor with lemon.
