Custard Cake Mrs. March 1 coffee cup flour 1 tea cup sugar 3 eggs 3 table spoons sweet milk 2 teas spoons cream tartar 1 tea spoon soda. Bake in two round tins as for Jelly Cake-- custard for the cake. 1 1/2 coffee cups milk 2/3 tea cup white sugar 2 eggs 1 table spoon corn starch & 2 table spoons milk beaten together. Heat the milk to boiling point, then turn in the other mixture & let it thicken. Let the cake & custard cool -- cut open each cake, & spread with custard. White Sponge Cake. Miss Jones. No. 8. Whites of 16 eggs beaten to a froth. 3 tumblers powdered sugar 2 & 1/2 tumblers sifted flour 3 tea spoons cream tartar well mixed through the flour 1 small teaspoon soda, dissolved in 2 teaspoons of sweet milk 1 teaspoon essence of lemon. Sarah's Sponge Cake. No 7. 6 or 7 eggs 3 cups of sugar 2 cups flour 2 tea spoons cream tartar 1 cup cold water with one 1 tea spoon soda 2 more cups flour, inside of lemon and part of outside.
