Cedar Rapids, Iowa July 19, 1942 Dear Slim - Here I am when you least expect me. was sure surprised to hear you were down there but you know what they say. it is cheaper to move than pay rent, but you didn't need to move so far. I'll bet you have found out a lot of things also seen a lot of stuff that a person would never dream of. If the weather stays like it has been I think the first frost will go off the punkins next week or the ice will go over the dam by the dam site. I am home alone today as Ruby went to Clear Lake this morning with the kids form the church will be gone for a week. Lewis didn't go but he is around town most of the day & nite so I expect I will see him at Supper time and time to get up. that is if I hear the alarm. Are you getting use to the southern talk and how are people down there
