July 21, 1943 2616 C. Ave. N. E. Dear Lloyd: Have written you lots of letters mentally but here goes one you can read. I hope you can make out the scratchings. Been hearing that you are leading an active life so my stuff will probably seem quite tame. We have been having some excitement however on the road such as water running over the bridges instead of under them. Two washed out east of Central City. One a 45 pony truss and the other a wood-pile and I mean that was really washed out. Don Peterson is back on the job, he had been in Kearny Nebraska on airport work. Joe Hurt has the bridge crew and we have quite a gong on bridge work - not much doing otherwise except filling up last winters frost boils and fixing up in general. Saw George some time ago and he seems to be taking to farming in great shape.
