[page]53.[/page] Lejennia serphillifolia - Libert, is found growing in dark, dense, circular patches on the sides of rocks and on trunks of trees. The old stems and leaves have a brown color but the new parts which are found usually at the tips of the stems are bright green. PL. XVIII. The stems are vaguely branching and under the 3/4 obj. PL. XVIII, fig. 2 are seen to consist of oblong closely arranged cells. From this the transparent loosely reticulated leaves grow out on two sides and spread horizontally.
