The series of observations that have been used for determining the value of a revolution of the screw of the micrometer was made by Prof. Weld upon the star Spica (a Virginis), near the meridian May 23rd 1892. The following data will make plain the condition -- under which the observations were made. Barometer 24.15 in : Thermometer 18.0 degrees C Declination of Star -10 degrees 36 minutes.
