[[page]] 76 Prof [[Asuple?]] Hull, in his report in the U. S. Astronomical Observations for the year 1867, says that measurements made with the [[nucimeter?]] in winter and in summer fail to show any sensible correction necessary for varying degrees of temperature, and so no attempt is made to allow for the effect of temperature. The values obtained may then be used with no regard to temperature, and the same for Barometer. The error of refraction, entering an observed transit is shown by [[underline]][[Chauvert?]][[underline]] in his [[underline]]Practical Astronomy[[underline]] Vol. II. Oct. 138, to be much less than the probable error of our observations.
