If several stars had been used in the observations, a weight might have been applied depending upon their respective delineations, but only one star being taken this is impossible. 40 observations were taken successively: 4 being taken at 1 revolution of the screw, 4 at 2 revolutions, and an equal series at each integral number of revolutions from 1 to 10 inclusive. This series is found upon pages 81 and 82 and also the value of the observed interval reduced to the equatorial and expressed in seconds of arc.
