PM 7/29/18 My dearest Wiffle,-- ! * ! The patient is better. For the present at least you are in no danger of another outbreak from him. Do you know, m'dear, I am beginning to share your opinion of my fountain pen. It has developed a habit of sweating ink inside the cap; and every time I open it for action I get my fingers besmudged. They are that way now. I don't know what I can do to improve matters, though; if I get a French pen I'll have to teach it English, and that will be hard work. I just killed a fly. Yes'm. Flies are always nosing around. Screens are unknown in this country. Fortunately, the fly is a rarer bird than he is at home and his visit here is also shorter.
