September 7, 1918, Honey Girl,- With my lamps three fourths shut already there is little chance I'll remain awake through this letter. But perhaps I can write to you and sleep as I once read to you while alseep. I owe my sleepiness to a long drive in the wind this afternoon. With the A.P. correspondent started for the place where General Pershing was going to pin DSC's on some brave chaps. We got there and found after much inquiring that it was taking
