From the movies, it seems that the women who have been chosen for overseas service are chosen for their worth and not for their good looks, which is, of course, as it should be; but I do hope they are not all as plain looking as the ones I've seen, because it seems to me a pretty face on a charming girl would go a long way toward cheering up some poor homesick devil. I've gone down the street several times, picking out the girls I've seen who looked as tho they'd be the right sort to go. It would be interesting to find out how far I missed the mark. Anyway, I hope some real keen ones show up soon that will furnish you real entertainment, poor lonesome chile. I can say this truly, realizing how well founded is my trust in you, dearest. As for our future location, dear -- anyplace where you are will be home to me. Perhaps it would be as well to stick to Iowa City for a while, at least while you look about for something you'd like better. I think we are both too fond of the fun furnished by such a place as New York to tackle it when we're not more experienced
