a minute, because I know you have troubles enough as it is. It was a thoughtless thing to do, but on my honor dear, you must have taken seriously something I said in jest. I do wish you'd send the letters back to me, so I can profit by the mistake and never make it again. It has been my wish that my letters to you should be full of love and devotion and, if possible, a little good cheer. But it is very likely that under stress of wearisome rehearsals, or other nerve wearing events I may have given you too vivid an account of my real mental conditions.
