[page]113.[/page] [underlined][underlined][underlined][underlined][underlined]MOLLUSCA.[/underlined][/underlined][/underlined][/underlined][/underlined] This sub-kingdom is made up of soft bodied, bilaterally symmetrical, not definitely segmented animals. The front of the animal is generally developed into a distinct head which bears tentacles. The mouth is anterior; the alimentary canal is entirely separate from the general body cavity; the anus is primitively posterior, but in many forms it may be found farther forward. The venous system consists of a small number of paired ganglia. There is present a vascular system and a heart, consisting of a ventricle adn one or two auricles. A single kidney or one or more pairs of kidneys, are present as saccular organs, which open internally into the body cavity, and communicate with the exterior
