DMR 12/23/70 U OF I COED IS ACQUITTED By Larry Eckholt (Register Staff Writer) IOWA CITY, IA.—A 19-year-old University of Iowa coed has been acquitted of charges of disorderly conduct in connection with a May 5 anti-war demosntration here. Karyl Weaver, a sophomore from Jefferson, was found innocent by Police Court Judge Joseph Thornton. Miss Weaver was among 51 persons arrested early May 5 after disorders in downtown streets in protest of the U.S. invasion of Cambodia. Miss Weaver testified at her trial the large numbers of people prevented her from leaving the scene of the disorders. Trial dates for 39 others charged the same time have not been set, Thornton said. Eleven of those arrested pleaded guilty May 6.
