NEW FAN DEPT; John Samuel, author of the above, is the roommate of Eric Korshak, Univeristy of Illinois. The two of them visited Bloomington recently and John became a full-fledged fan by suscribing to LeZ. This simple act, we assured him, admits him to our inner circle. Follows now some autobiographical bits on the gentleman;
Born February 19, 1924, at Hildesheim, Germany. Schooling: Grade school and Hebrew Secondary School at Haifa, Palestine; University of Illinois, Urbana, Ill. (chemistry).
Places of residence: Germany (1924-30), British India (1931-33), Austria (1933), Palestine (1933-40), India (1940-41), and U.S.A. (1941- ).
Speaks: Hebrew, English, German, also a little French.
Main ambition: to most a science-fictionist who is a rocketeer, not a rackoteer.
TRAVEL DEPT: Korshak reported that Mark Reinsberg returned form his So. American trip much earlier than had been expected, ans passed along the usual unusual adventures such as befall a fan traveling anywhere. . . . .such as accidentally sounding the submarine alarm in mid-ocean. Mark is, at this writing, at home in Chicago but by the time you read this he will probably be at sea again. He intends to sil to England from NY shortly. He holds a card in the seaman's union and expects to work his way across. So he may be the first, after all to visit English fans.
