17 January 1956 Today we demonstrated for the first time, that X-rays of energy up to ~ 100 kev can & do produce a "pile-up" output of the NaI crystal similar to cases observed in rockoon flights during the summer of 1955. [Kasper has completed the simulated set up (in the carpentry shop) with an X-ray tube, high voltage transformer, electrostatic voltmeter & a fully checked out Deacon nose cone) The X-ray tube is being operated A.C., the ( r.m.s./2) voltage [sens. res.?] --> [electric schematic/sketch/picture including symbols, electrostatic voltmeter (0-50 kv).
