------------------------ On 2 & 3rd of June 1956 Ray [Messint?] finally got a good balloon flight ! Launched from Minneapolis (early morning) by General Mills on Saturday the 2nd of June. -- Cut down 25 hours later near Rapid City. Approximately 22.5 hours of level flight at high altitude -- 99,000 feeet +- 1 gm/(cm squared). Clean recording throughout. Flight gear included (a) 12 inches spherical ionization chamber with (Po alpha calibration for diurnal fluctuation of heavy nuclei (b) oscilloscope and camera for recording of data (c) switch for changing amplifier gain by ~2 fold. (d) three-fold G.M. tube coincidence circuit for monitoring star-producing radiation. ------------------------------------------------------
