Pleasant for lunch with Mother Van Allen and with George and family. Left Mt. Pleasant at 4 P.M. on the tenth, stayed at Motel near Hammond, Indiana on first night, at Youngstown, Ohio on second night and reached "Shinneconic" on evening of the 12th of August -- 1200 miles from Mt. Pleasant. Ohio and Pennsylvania and New Jersey turnpike make traveling east very easy now. Averaged 14.5 miles/gallon (regular gas).
