Professor E.P.T. Tyndall and myself. The undertaker, Mr. Beckman, did the actual distribution of the combined ashes. The volume of the ashes (whitish, lime-like in appearance in small fragments and dust) was perhaps 500 cubic inches. These were distributed with a small scoop by Beckman as the four of us walked around the exterior of the building. The ceremony was at sunset about 5:25 P.M. on the 26th - a beautiful sunset on a warm fall day. 30 October J. S.
