12/3/1957 Transcript of some rough notes by phone from George Ludwig, who has temporarily transferred to J.P.L. at California Tech in order to integrate our cosmic ray package into the J.P.L. instrument head for the Jupiter C satellite vehicle. [He transferred bag & baggage on 18-20 November, just before my return form the Antarctic.] Phone call from Ludwig ~ 22 November 1957 On 23 October Richter & [Donhauer?](?) of J.P.L. and Bob Paren(?) of Wisc met with Ludwig at Iowa to consider instrumentation possibilities if D.O.D would approve use of Jupiter C for launching satellites (as a "back up" to Project Vanguard) Arrangements by Richter Preliminary arrangements for such a collaboration appeared favorable - Ground work for such a possibility had been
