OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE FANTASY AMATEUR PRESS ASSOCIATION Published at Esmont, Virginia OFFICERS OF THE FAPA Harry Warner, Jr., President Elme Perdue, Sec'y-Treas. Milton A.Rothman, Vice-President L.R. Chauvenet, Official Editor PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE First of all, my thanks to you, you, and you for electing me President. I didn't sabotage the organization during the past year, as Vice-President, and have not the slightest intention of doing so for twelve months more. And since I had no platform, and was chosen President just the same, you're bound not to get less than you expect from my officiating, and might conceivably be pleasantly surprised. No weighty matters of business came up during the last three months to be mentioned here, and there's no reason for dragging out this Message. I have appointed Paul Freehafer Official Critic for the coming FAPA year, and H.C. Koenig Associate Critic. A Laureate Committee has been appointed, and its awards will be listed in the next issue of the Fantasy Amateur. The FATA is in a sounder position today than twelve months ago. The big problem now is to continue this progress. I see three main objectives: the first, that of mailings on the dot, seems to have been solved. The second, of keeping the membership quota full and possibly establishing a waiting list, is more difficult: with the stiffer activity requirements and higher dues, it's going to mean that every present member must stay active and try to get others to join. The third concerns the number of magazines distributed each mailing: at present, it has reached a reasonably high average, but could be far better. Activity should be greater now, with the amendment to the constitution; the mailings are coming on time; and it's up to the members to make them heavy. Don't worry about postage; the dues have been raised to take care of that now. So let's all get busy!
