Dunkelberger SPOTLITE New fanzine out "CLUSTER" by Roy Karden - 409 12th St. Cloquit, Wisc. - Not a bad first issue -- its hecto'd - is a bit humorous and is quite readable - best in ish is "Bibliography of Articles on Fan Interest" - which I'm taking the liberty of reprinting, as per Karden's suggestion, with full credit to CLUSTER - item will be found at the end of SPOTLITE -- the BOMB SHELL has exploded and Los Angles is in the midst of a terrific quarel - Claude Degler is in a hell of a mess for his COSMIC CLUB and other things and is in grave danger of expulsion from both FAPA and the LASFS - we have no sympathy for Claude - he tried to go to fast and too far with no backing at all - I feel real sorry for others involved with him and ask fandom to be merciful and forgive them their mistakes - especially the newer fans like Russ Wilsey and Raym who are both fine chaps ---- there'll be another Stforum in a week or so - at Donald Wolheim's new place -- first affair in three months -- ARKHAM HOUSE has finally gotten the green light and will produce "Beyond the Wall of Sleep" in early November (latest word from Derleth gives shipping date around December 1st WD) Derleth's latest novel, SHADOW OF NIGHT, will be issued by Scribners' Oct. 11 - Derleth will marry Marcia Lee Masters, daughter of the famous poet Edgar Lee Masters in the very near future -- Fran Laney feels the war getting closer and closer to him - draft board's after him TOO. -- George R. Cowie now stationed in Miami -- Langley Searles FAPA mag to be called FANTASY COMENTATOR - Don't pass it by in your next mailing, It will be chocked full of interesting items about FANTASY books -- Don Wholheim's Pocketbook is in its 3rd printing - circulation now over 150,000 - putting it well ahead of any other STF book except the MERRITT edition (AVON Pocket-sized books) -- however there is no likelihood of a second edition of the MERRITT for at least 3 years (well after the duration, we hope) - yep paper shortage again -- the publishers can't keep up with their regular commitments -- newest fan to head for Los Angles is Jules Lazar - he's probably going out there for a better job - can promise to come and will come -- write to Al Ashley 56 Upton Ave. Battle Creek, Michigan -- these past few issues of FFF will not count as two or three issues (as numbered) but each will count only as one, so don't be afraid of the double issues, they'll still only cost you 5¢. - O - O - O - FANTASY IN ENGLISH LITERATURE: Literary Digest; pp 32; June 5, 1926 SCIENTIFIC FANTASIES: D.W.
