way to begin your days at SUI. It is important to start right, and ORIENTATION SERVES YOU. Information is distributed during the summer, and questions about the campus can be directed to members serving on Orientation. Much can be gained from Orientation activities to help you to become and active student at SUI. Spinster's Spree This year the enchantment of the them "Bali Hai" offered each coed the opportunity to invite her special fellow to Spinster's Spree. This all-University dance, sponsored by AWS, is your chance to do the asking and the planning. And with the tables turned, it becomes the annual event in the mind of every SUI man. Committee membership in planning Spinster's Spree is fun and an outlet for your talents in decorating, entertaining, hostessing, theme coordination, and many other areas. Under the general chairman are her respective chairmen and committee members. You are eligible to apply for membership or for chairmanship by application in the fall. Selection is made on the basis of your application. Should you be one of the lucky ones chosen, you'll have your turn to show your talents. That's when the fun begins. You'll have your finger in the pie of one of the largest social events of the year. You'll all want to attend! University Sing University Sing is part of Mother's Day Weekend which gives all of you with a special interest in choral music a chance to show off. Each year, every housing unit is invited to participate in choral ensemble work featuring groups composed of and directed by you, students of SUI. Because of the large number of entering groups, each contestant is required to take part in semi-finals. From this, a select number of ensembles is chosen to sing on the Sunday afternoon of Mother's Day Weekend. Following judging by qualified musicians, first and second place winners are chosen. Competition is keen! It's fun, exciting, and rewarding. If your housing unit needs a trophy to fill a spot in your trophy case, U. Sing is one of the many activities in which you will want to take part. If you really haven't much of a voice, but lots of talent at organizing an all-University activity like U. Sing, then maybe you'll want to take part in the planning. The chairman of U. Sing is a member of the AWS General Council; she is selected each fall through application, as is her committee. 29
