Nondiscrimination Policy Page three Private donors of funds to finance awards to worthy students will be directed to omit any reference to race, color, creed, or national origin in the criteria for selection of the recipents of such awards. The college will urge such donors to make academic achievement and promise, financial need, and excellence in extra-curricular activities the bases for selection. If the terms of a bequest or gift are judged to be in violation of the nondiscrimination polices of the college, the bequest or gift will be refused. E. Housing and Food Service 1. College Residence Halls In the assignment of students to rooms in the college residence halls there is no discrimination by the college on the basis or race, color, creed or nationality. Privileges in the residence halls shall be granted no denied because of race, color, creed or nationality but solely on the basis of age, classification and merit. The housing forms do not require nor invite the student to indicate his race, color, creed, or national origin. 2. Off Campus Approved Housing The college expects a student to be welcomed in an approved off-campus home irrespective of his race, color, creed, or nationality. All householders wishing to be placed on the list of approved off-campus homes must agree in writing to rent rooms to students on the basis of their individual merits and without discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin. Any reported violation of this rule will be investigated and if the householder is found to have refused a room to a qualified applicant because of his race, color, creed, or nationality, the college may remove the home from the approved housing list. 3.Housing and Services in the Community Working through civic groups, the college attempts to prevent discriminatory practices, based on race, color,creed or national origin, in apartments and trailer courts in this community. Similarly, the college urges the elimination of discriminatory practices, if such are found to exist, in the stores, restaurants, barber and beauty shops, laundries and all other business establishments in the community. 4. The College Food Service, Snack Bars and Union The college does not permit discriminatory practices on the basis of race, color, creed, or nationality in any of its food services or snack bars, or in the use of the Union. F. Participation in Co-curricular Activities The college does not allow discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, or nationality in any co-curricular activity; including athletics, music, forensics, journalism, dramatics, or student government.
