Board Office September 21, 1971 CHAPTER III CLASSIFICATION 3.1 (19A) Preparation and maintenance of the classification plan. Under coordination of the Merit System Coordinator, a uniform classification plan covering all the positions under this system will be prepared in cooperation with the Resident Directors at each institution. The plan will be developed and maintained so that all positions that are substantially similar and comparable in regard to the kind and difficulty of work and level of responsibility are included in the same class, so that the same minimum qualifications are required for all positions in the same class (except as provided in 6.3(2) of these rules), so that the same type of examination may be used in filling all positions in a class, and so that the same pay schedule may be equitable applied in the same geographical area to all positions in the class. For each class of position the plan will include a class title, a definition of the job, examples of the kind of work performed, and the minimum qualifications for the class including when applicable, acceptable substitutions and special requirements. 3.2 (19A) Administration of the Classification Plan. Each position in the classification plan will be reviewed periodically by the Resident Director, or at the request of an employing department or an employee in accordance with 10.1 of these rules. Subject to the appeal provisions of these rules, classification and reclassifications will be the responsibility of the Resident Director at each institution. All such transactions will be regularly reported to and may be reviewed by the Merit System Coordinator who will be responsible for the proper and uniform maintenance of the plan for all positions under the System.
