Page 2 d) All available positions such as Administrative Assistant (Budget Code 04), Miscellaneous Professional Staff (Budget Code 84) and all D positions must be registered wit the Personnel Service for a period of fourteen calendar days prior to filling the position. Registration of available Code 04 and Code 84 positions requires the filing of a job description with the Personnel Office. The Personnel Office is available in assisting in job description surveys upon request. Notices and job descriptions will be on file in the Personnel Service Office and posted in convenient locations. 3. Application and Appointment Forms Application and appointment forms shall not require different information for men and women. 4. Interviews Information requested during interviews shall be the same for both male and female candidates. 5. Salaries Salaries shall be determined on the basis of merit only. Such factors as marital status,number of dependents, spouse's income, or other sources of income shall not be considered in setting salaries. 6. Employment of Relatives Section 20.027 of the University Operations Manual means that "no person can employ another who is related to him by blood or marriage. this does not preclude relatives from working the same department, but neither of them must be in a position to establish the status or pay of the other." (F.Y.I., October 4, 1971, p.2) These guidelines are effective immediately, where appropriate, for the filing of available A, B,C and D positions. RLH: km
