12 PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S THEATRE Sepember 6th, 20 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Very good average. FOUR ORTONS - ( 6 mins.) Comedy wireists. One of the very best opening acts we have had in a long time. Plenty of flash and good comedy. THORNTON SISTERS - (12 mins.) Fairly good straight singing turn. Use classy numbers exclusively with fair voices. Did very well in this spot. CONLIN & GLASS - (20 mins.) This act did very well. The low comedy got a liberal amount of laughs and the music helped to build it up. Act is unusually well stage and dressed for a comedy offering. MALETA BONCONI - (14 mins.) A distinctly class musical number which repeated very well for us. She is well above the average as a violiniste and closed strong. JANE & KATHERINE LEE - (22 mins.) These children were not only a big draw but a tremendous applause hit. They are exceptionally strong with the women and children and for that reason a very good vaudeville feature. VAUGHN COMFORT & J. WEST JONES - (16 mins.) A local act and new on the circuit but it got over on merit alone, being one of the big hits of the show. Comfort was in excellent voice and as good as ever as a ballad singer. West Jones is one of the best pianists we have ever heard in an act of this kind. They exchanged places with James Thorton, after the first show, and were just as big a hit in the next to closing spot. LAURA PIERPONT in "The Guiding Star" - (24 mins.) A very good comedy drama sketch and unusually well played. Miss Pierpont, formerly supporting Taylor Granville, proved herself a distinctly capable actress in four different "types". She is well supported and the act is a big hit. JAMES THORTON - (19 mins.) The next to closing position and following a long sketch was a big hard for the veteran but he did very well in this spot at the opening show. Changing places with Comfort & Jones gave him a better chance and we went very big. BESSYE CLIFFORD - (8 mins.) Giving the usual act studies she did very well in the closing position. Pictures well selected and prettily staged. GENERAL REMARKS - This show opened to capacity audiences on Labor Day and got over in great shape. There were three or four big hits and plenty of comedy and music, giving us a very entertaining bill.
