PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S OCTOBER 25th 20 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Good. MISS ROBBIE GORDONE -(8 mins.) This familiar act, with some new designs, made a very good opener. GREEN & MYRA - (13 mins.) The man in this act, formerly solo violinist with Sophie Tucker, is a very good musician and got a lot out of his selections. The girl with him is a fairly good singer and between them they put over a good sized applause hit, closing to a good hand. BESSIE REMPEL - (17 mins.) A novelty sketch that got plenty of laughs. Closed to a very good hand. It is talky, but all comedy and the material is first class. A little slow at the close, and this was responsible for its light finish. A. C. ASTOR - (20 mins.) Got over very well on his excellent finish. Shows nothing out of the ordinary until he reaches a song, which he does with a crying bit that is one of the best things in the ventriloquial line we have ever had. Also scored solidly with an enchore bit which was very well done. WHITING & BURT - (42 mins.) While their new act is not exactly a disappointment it must be said that it lacks the punch the former offerings of this team has given vaudeville. The revue is pretty, classy and well done, but it lacks action and aside from an eccentric dance by two boys it contains no big feature to stand out. Whiting and Burt's numbers were as well received as ever and the way they were received individually makes us believe that they simply took a very good next to closing act our of vaudeville trying for a flash that did not succeed. SENATOR MURPHY - (16 mins.) This was his first visit to this house and he was an unmistakable applause hit. He got a lot of laughs, his material is strictly up-to-date and he gets it off in great shape. Closed to a very good hand. IRVING & JACK KAUFMAN - (14 mins.) In addition to their singing turn this is now a good name act in vaudeville on account of their phonograph popularity. They were a big hit with their songs. Held down their spot in a very satisfactory way. ELINORE & WILLIAMS - (15 mins.) The opening of the act they are using now is new and did not get quite as many laughs as the latter part of it which is some of their old offering. However, in the next to closing spot they did very well, got plenty of laughs and closed to a good hand. Miss Elinore has some new comedy make-ups that got laughs. AMETA - (10 mins.) A very pretty dance number with mirrors. Makes a great flash and in the closing position did very well, getting a very good hand. GENERAL REMARKS - The bill surrounding the headliner did a lot to hold this show up as the big set did not do so well. There were several hits, however, and the show reached a good average. CUTS A. C. ASTOR - Use "Yiddish" instead of "Jewish" wherever you use the latter word. Also eliminate words "Damn near midnight." WHITING & BURT - Eliminate remarks "Woodrow there goes one of your cabinet."
