PROVIDENCE, R. I. E. F. ALBEE NOV. 1st, 1920 We have a very fine show this week, one that would do credit to any theatre in the world. Only one act was disappointing. CHAS. LOVENBERG. MARGARET STEWART & COMPANY: In an act of posing. One of the prettiest acts of the kind we have ever played. 8 min. full stage. LEXEY & O'CONNOR: Lively little singing and dancing act by a young fellow and girl, which held the spot satisfactorily. 11 min. in one. MELLETTE SISTERS: This act was a distinct disappointment. It was booked for the closing spot which it could by no means hold, necessitated being moved up here. The girls have a new pianist which hurt them some no doubt, but aside from that I see nothing but a couple of good looking girls who dress well and dance like amateurs. 12 min. full stage. CARRIE JACOBS BOND: That this act is of the kind that Providence likes was fully demonstrated by the applause brought after each of the songs and the laughter given for Mrs. Bonds' stories and for the very heavy applause at the finish. This is the sort of thing that we need badly these days to pull us out of the muck of bare legs, dirty jokes and jazz with which present day vaudeville is permeated. 20 min. in one. MR. & MRS. JIMMY BARRY: In their sketch "The Burglar" which was very well received. 22 min. in 1-1/2 THE AMOROS SISTERS: Lively act of singing, dancing and acrobatics, which made quite a hit. 14 min. full stage, short opening in one. SISSLE & BLAKE: Two colored men singing and piano playing, who did an act which went over very big. 20 min. in one. ELSA RYAN & COMPANY: In a comedy sketch called "Peg For Short". Miss Ryan is a most capable actress and has a very pleasing vehicle. Even in places where sketches are not desired at all, I am sure Miss Ryan's presentation would be liked. With our audience she was a distinct hit and is another of those acts which we need to help to clean up with. 21 min. full stage. BOB HALL: Mr. Hall made his usuall terrific hit. 24 min. in one. PEDESTRIANISM: Presented by George M. Brown and Company. a good Laughing novelty that made a good closing for a splendid show. 15 min full stage. CUTS: MELLETTE SISTERS: Please wear stockings instead of appearing in bare legs.
