PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S JANUARY 17th, 21 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Both below average. YOUNG & WHEELER - (11 mins.) Violin and piano numbers by two men. The opening spot is not the best position for this act but they held it down and got very good results out of it. NAT NAZARRO & COMPANY - (31 mins.) This act got plenty of laughs and applause but is entirely too long. Following a short routine of hand acrobatics, the work of two colored boys was dragged out until the value of the act was impaired. There is entirely too much stalling and unnecessary talk by Nazarro. With about ten munites taken out of this act is would suit all requirements and certainly improve it. PAUL DECKER & CO. - (24 mins.) A first class comedy sketch and very well played by all concerned. Mr. Decker gives a particularly good performance and the act contains plenty of action and got many laughs. THE GREAT LESTER - (22 mins.) Made his usual hit here with about the same routine used on former visits. Closed strong. MARIE NORDSTROM - (18 mins.) This act made a very good impression. Miss Nordstrom has varied her offering considerably and finishes with a dramatic bit that scored solidly. ELLA SHIELDS - (18 mins.) This woman is a finished artist and while her numbers, like those generally used by English artists or those of that type, lack the snap and punch of the American, her work is of high class. She was very well received, without registering a pronounced hit. CLARK & BERGMAN -(21 mins.) This couple are about the most popular of their class who play this house. They always give an excellent performance and always go big. With the assistance of a singer in one of the boxes they were their usual hit for us. LYDELL & MACEY - in "Two Old Cronies" (15 mins.) In the next to closing spot of a very long show, this act was a big laugh winner and go surprising results considering the conditions. LOHSE & STERLING - (6 mins.) A fast and well handled aerial act. Did very well and got a very liberal hand for their work GENERAL REMARKS - This is a very heavy and long show, due principally to the stalling and time-wasting of Nat Nazarro. In addition the whole bill was upset on Monday when Nazarro did not appear at the theatre until too late for him to take his regular spot on the bill. Aside from this the show contained plenty of class and color and was very well received. CUTS THE GREAT LESTER - Words "What the Hell" used in the telephone bit.
