PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S APRIL 25th, 1921 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Good variety of pictures. "Topics" only fair. KUTING'S ENTERTAINERS - (10 mins.) Very pretty animal act and a first rate opener. Animals well trained and especially good looking. MARGARET FORD - (10 mins.) Scored solidly. She possesses a double voice and sings soprano and baritone numbers equally well. Was a big applause winner. ERNEST EVANS - (19 mins.) One of the prettiest dance acts we have played this season. Mr. Evans is a clever dancer and is surrounded with seven attractive-looking girls, nicely costumed and the act is elaborately staged. The girls play musical instruments in addition to their singing and the entire act made a very strong impression. GEORGE ROSENER - (26 mins.) He did very well with several character bits during which he injected some comedy. Closed to a good hand. DIAMOND & BRENNAN - (18 mins.) This act was rather disappointing after what this team has given us in the past as a comedy act. There are several good hits in it with an elaborately staged setting but it was not until they got down to the material formerly used and now using for a finish that they got anything worth speaking about. Their comedy song and dance took them off to a good hand but the first portion of their act went over light. HERSCHEL HENLERE - (32 mins.) Some very valuable time was wasted at the opening of this act through comedy that brought nothing, but after Henlere goes to the piano his act really starts. Held up strong from here and finished very big. WILLIAM ROCK & COMPANY - (36 mins.) About the same act he used here last year and it was very warmly received. He has a lot of pretty girls and everyone of them contribute and individual share to the success of the act. This is especially so in the closing number, which is even better than it was last season and a big applause and laugh winner. ROME & GAUT - (11 mins.) A tremendous comedy hit in the next to closing spot despite the fact that they went on very late at the opening show. A corking good comedy number that held a hard spot and finished in a riot of applause. ANDERSON & YVEL - (6 mins.) A great skating act by a man and woman with a whirlwind finish that brough them a riot of applause. It went on very late but the few who saw it gave it hearty recognition in the way of applause and under better conditions it would have been a big winner. GENERAL REMARKS - Playing entirely too long this show dragged through the first matinee but with cutting by two or three of the acts and a little speed injected it ought to prove very satisfactory and will round out a splendid bill. CUTS GEORGE ROSENER - Eliminate line about "strawberry mark on her hip." In using line about having "bad dogs" either end it there or say "And they certainly are barking." 166
