PHILADELPHIA B.F.KEITH'S AUGUST 29th 1 FABLES & "TOPICS" - Fables very good. "Topics" just fair. BALLIOT TRIO - (8 mins.) Did very well as an opener. A man and two girls, have a routine of showy gymnastics tricks, which they handle nicely. CAHILL & ROMINE - (15 mins.) This act opened a little slow but a stump speech by one of the men started them away to a big sized applause hit and they closed to a very good hand. SHEILA TERRY - (23 mins.) A pretty act that did just as nicely as it did for us last season. A novelty that fits in nicely and closed to a good hand. EDDIE ROSS - (19 mins.) One of the big applause hits of the show. He was a big laughing hit and had to come back for an enchore. CRANE WILBUR & MARTHA MANSFIELD - (20 mins.) The playlet "Right Or Wrong" presented by these two picture stars seemed to be a surprise to our patrons and a very agreeable one, for it scored a big hit. A particularly bright little playlet and the authors have supplied the principals with plenty of good laugh lines. Very well done and scored solidly. HOWARD & SADLER - (16 mins.) Got over very well with their comedy and singing. Improved steadily and with a good routine of material, handled very well, held down this spot very satisfactorily and closed to a good hand. DAVIS & DARNELL - (15 mins.) Being remembered for the hit scored in a musical show here last season they received a very warm welcome and put over a good sized laughing hit. Their material is snappy, well done, and they closed to a very good hand. HERMAN TIMBERG - (14 mins.) He was the applause hit of the show. His comedy brought big results and he was a riot with his dancing. Closed very strong. LA PILARICA TRIO - (11 mins.) A very pretty dancing act by three people. Their numbers are all of their native (Spanish) style and all three are splendid dancers. did exceedingly well in the closing spot. PATHE NEWS - (10 mins.) The pictures of the airship ZH-2, with members of its crew, are shown in this week's series and attracted a great deal of attention. We featured them in the advertising. GENERAL REMARKS - A good break in the weather gave us a capacity house and the show went over great. The leadliners proved to be a surprisingly big laughing hit and the rest of the show held the average away up. CUTS Cahill & Romine - Use cross-eyed instead of "cock-eyed." Davis & Darnell - Use words "showing again" instead of hanging out again." Herman Timberg - Words "My God".
