Providence, R. I. E. F. Albee September 12, 1921 We have a very good playing show this week. Every act scored well and practically all of them making hits. Charles Lovenberg THE STERLINGS - Skaters with various dances on skates. Good opening act. 8 minutes open full stage, close in one. HAIG & LAVERE - Two men with a little comedy talk, the principal part of their act being whistling and accordion playing. They went very well indeed. 12 minutes in one. RUTH BUDD - Well known act which scored its usual hit. 14 minutes full stage. TONY & NORMAN - This was a very soft spot for these people and they had their audience in their hands every moment. 24 minutes in one. SAWING A WOMAN IN HALF - Presented by The Great Jansen. I haven't seen Mr. Goldin's presentation of this, but I have assumed that I would like Mr. Jansen the better of the two for an act of this kind. He has a fine appearance and a nice delivery and appears more of a scientist than the showman. We are working up a stunt for Wednesday evening and an ostensible challenge being sent to Jansen by a Providence woman who is interested in the feat, but because of her prominence does not want to be disclosed and appears masked. We are carrying ads of this in today's papers with a copy in half-tone of the woman's original letter and Jansen's reply. It seems to be creating considerable interest and I think we can get something out of it. With the act itself, the audience was decidely impressed at yesterday's performance. 15 minutes, full stage. HEALY & CROSS - Two young men in a rather good singing act made strong for us by the fact that Healy is a native of Providence. 20 minutes in one. EDITH TALIAFERRO - in "Under the Same Old Moon". Very pretentiously mounted, sketched in four scenes and well played especially by Miss Taliaferro which gets over well in spite of the fact that there isn't much meat to the act. 30 minutes full stage. PRESSLER & KLAISS - Mr. Pressler got lots of laughs out of the his grotesque appearance and eccentricities at the piano. 12 minutes in one. AESOP FABLES - Motion Pictures. The Hare and The Frog. Not satisfactory.
