PROVIDENCE E. F. ALBEE October 4, 1921 As a whole, we have a very good bill. Serious fault may be found with only one act and in spite of its weakness that one got quite a few laughs. Charles Lovenberg. THE JOANNYS. This is decidely an improvement over all shadowgraphic acts that we have ever had. The effect of throwing stereoptican slides and colored lights in conjunction with the shadows is very effective as is the novelty of throwing the shadows into the auditorium. The people have very pleasant personalities and all in all it is a splendid act, worthy of a more important place on the bill. 12 minutes full stage. BRENT HAYES. Banjoist and a very good one. Mr. Hayes plays semi-classical and popular music with excellent results and leaves the stage with the audience demanding more. RESISTA. well known act which gave evident satisfaction and secured lots of laughs. In fact they played too strongly upon the laughs showing that the plants really belonged to the company, which I corrected after the first performance and the night show played with more genuineness and very satisfactorily. 15 minutes full stage. CLARA HOWARD. Singing comedienne and change artist. Went very well indeed. 20 minutes in one. WALTER FISHTER & CO. Not a good act. 16 minutes full stage. WYLIE & HARTMAN. Miss Hartman presents a new partner this year and quite a little new material. The act secured many laughs. 17 minutes in one. JOSEPHINE VICTOR & CO. In a very well written and splendidly produced playlet called "Juliet and Romeo". I like all of the cast supporting Miss Victor better than Miss Victor herself, who, I think, plays with considerable hardness and artificialty. I think that some of the dialogue could be cut also to the improvement of the act. Nevertheless as it stands, it is an ornament ot vaudeville. 27 minutes full stage. JOE ROLLEY & CO. Mr. Rolley is a clever black face comedian, a good harmonica player and an expert dancer. He succeeded in getting considerable laughter and applause. 12 minutes in one. PAUL, LEVAN AND MILLER. A very, VERY old fashioned knock-about comedy acrobatic act. 6 minutes full stage.
