PROVIDENCE E. F. ALBEE OCTOBER 24, 1921 The show isn't quite as good as those we have been having recently and some of the acts being only fair and only one or two of them especially high grade. Charles Lovenberg THE FAYNES. Man and woman. The man doing contortion work, the woman a little singing and a vocal imitation of Ocarrina. The man does some more stunts but the whole act does not have much glass and may be considered fairly good. 10 minutes full stage. HARRY AND GRACE ELLSWORTH. The young man's Russian dancing in this act is more remarkable. There is about five minutes of this. The rest of this act is inane and the woman is particualrly poor. 12 minutes in one. JACK HANLEY. Mr. Hanley is a very funny comedian but he failed to make the tremendous success here upon the audiences or myself that I have heard from him in other places. The act is all right and worth what we are paying it, but no more. 10 minutes full stage FISHER AND GILMORE. This is a very attractive couple, cleaned-cut who have a good routine of material and all in all is a most desirable act of comedy and singing. Made a big hit. 17 minutes in one. A DRESS REHEARSAL. A very clever satire, well done. Secured many laughs yet not as many as it seemed to me that act deserved. I found this same condition at the Palace in New York. It seems to me the audiences do not get all of the burlesque, but that is the fault of the audience and not the act. 17 minutes full stage. MARGUERITA PADULA. Very clever woman. Singing, whistling and piano playing. Big hit. 15 minutes in one. ROBERT EMMETT KEAN AND CLAIRE WHITNEY. A very excellently played vehicle, "The Gossipy Sex". I don't recall anything better being done in this house. 20 minutes full stage. JEAN GRANESE with two men. An act of singing and piano playing. They got considerable applause but to me it is an atrocious act. There isn't a voice in the troup although one man does make a bluff at some operatic solo. The comedy amounts to nothing in my estimation, but I am going to say that the audiences liked them much better than I did. From that standpoint, it may be classed as a good act. 15 minutes in one. BARABAN & GROHS. A very pretentious dancing act with considerable scenery and some unusual dancing quite well done. 12 minutes full stage. Cuts: Miss Ellsworth - Please wear a dress that doesn't expose so much of your back or arrange some way to cover same. Keane & Whitney - Please omit "hell' and "My God" Baraban & Grohs - Have Miss Baraban wear tights and not appear in bare legs. Mr. Grohs wear something to cover breast. Miss Baraban please omit shimmy.
